The root cause

Acne is caused when the sebaceous glands of the skin produce excessive oil, a change which can occur during puberty, but also as a result of hormonal imbalance, which is why some of our patients start to experience acne in adult life. This excess of oil, along with accumulated dead skin cells, leads to the hair follicles on the face becoming clogged, resulting in Acne – such as pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads, that can not only cause distress, but may also lead to Scarring if left untreated.

A holistic approach

While acne can be minimised, it is important to note that no single acne treatment can make it disappear completely. For this reason, we always advocate a variety of different approaches in order to best improve its appearance. Topical skincare, in combination with laser resurfacing treatments, and even prescription antibiotics or medication, can be beneficial in keeping the complexion clear.
