What is Sculptra® and how does it work?
Sculptra is an injectable collagen stimulator made from poly-L-lactic acid. Rather than creating instant volume like traditional fillers, it works by encouraging your body to gradually produce new collagen.
This means results develop progressively over time, improving not just volume, but also:

Sculptra® for neck rejuvenation
The neck is one of the most challenging areas to treat. Sculptra® helps improve crepey skin, restore support, and strengthen the underlying tissue. We often combine it with CoolSculpting to reduce any excess fatty tissue under the chin and Sofwave to tighten any loose skin.
Sculptra® for chest (décolletage) rejuvenation
Sun damage and collagen loss often show early in the chest. Sculptra® improves skin quality, thickness and texture, helping to soften the area and create smoother skin. We often combine this treatment with BBL and Halo laser for the chest area.
Sculptra® for arms
For patients concerned about thinning skin or laxity in the upper arms, Sculptra® can improve tissue quality and provide subtle volumisation for a firmer look. This is especially effective for crepey skin on the upper arms.
Sculptra® for the gluteal region (non-surgical BBL alternative)

What to Expect
What to expect during Sculptra® treatment
Treatment involves carefully placing Sculptra® into the target areas using advanced injection techniques.
The procedure is generally well tolerated. After treatment, it is normal to experience:
- mild swelling
- tenderness
- bruising
- temporary fullness
Most patients return to normal activities quickly.
Results develop gradually over several weeks as collagen production increases. Most patients need two or three sessions, depending on the area being treated.
Sculptra® aftercare: the 5-5-5 rule
After treatment, massage is essential.
We recommend the 5-5-5 rule:
- 5 minutes
- 5 times per day
- for 5 days
This helps ensure even distribution of the product and is an important part of achieving optimal results, minimising the risk of nodule formation.
Sculptra® nodules: understanding the risks
Sculptra® is a highly effective treatment, but it is important to understand the risks — particularly the potential for nodules.
With older treatment protocols, nodule rates were reported as high as 1 in 5 patients. With modern dilution techniques, improved preparation and advanced injection protocols, this risk has reduced significantly to approximately 1 in 200.
While this is a substantial improvement, the risk is not zero.
For this reason, Sculptra® must be used selectively and appropriately:
- often more suitable for larger or non-facial areas
- valuable in facial patients requiring significant volume restoration
- requires precise technique and strict aftercare

Common Questions
How many vials or sessions will I need?
Most patients will require 3 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, to reach optimal correction, particularly if there is mid-face hollowing or structural volume loss.
Will I look “filled” or unnatural?
No — when correctly injected and integrated into a strategic plan, Sculptra® offers subtle improvements that evolve over time, producing refreshed, natural-looking results rather than a “puffy” appearance.
Can I combine it with HA fillers or other treatments?
How long will the results last?
Clinical data show results lasting up to 2 years or more, and in some patients results may be maintained longer with appropriate maintenance and lifestyle support.
Is it painful? What’s the downtime?
Discomfort is minimal and typically managed by topical anaesthetic. Bruising or swelling may occur but usually resolves in a few days. Most patients return to routine activities straight away.
