Nose bump

A Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty is an excellent way of disguising a minor bump in the nose. By camouflaging the bump, it can make the nose less visible within the face. When we correct a nose bump, we often lift the tip at the same time, encouraging the tip to sit slightly above the bridge of the nose. Creating this proportional relationship can create the illusion of the nose being more delicate or seemingly reducing the overall size of the nose itself. After all, though the nose is technically larger after a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty, it is often perceived as smaller as it sits more harmoniously alongside the other features.

What can help?

A Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty works by altering the angles and highlights that contribute to the perception of a smaller, less obtrusive nose, and that is where the skill and expertise of the doctor is key. In this example, the patient had a small bump that made her nose appear out of sync with her features. This was improved by using injections of dermal filler above the bump, as well as into the tip to add lift and support.

Contouring the Nose and Chin

Occasionally, an underdeveloped chin can contribute to the appearance of a prominent nose. In these situations, combining a non-surgical rhinoplasty with a subtle augmentation to the chin can improve the overall facial proportions and make the nose look more harmonious.

Dermal fillers, formulated for the nasal area, can be injected via a cannula: either above or below the bump, to camouflage a large hump; or to the tip of the nose, to enhance projection and create a subtle lift. This treatment is performed by all of our non-surgical doctors, including Dr Darren McKeown and Dr Rhona Cameron.

Patient Testimonials

A prominent nose can be one of the most distressing features for some people. Often, the problem is exacerbated by a weak or recessed chin and contouring the nose and chin with filler injections can help to re-balance to profile, achieving facial harmony. Common Questions

What are the benefits?

It is important to note that most of the changes that can be achieved non-surgically (using dermal filler) are most visible in profile, rather than straight-on. However, if there is an indentation at the front of the nose, this can be carefully filled to create a more pleasing contour, with a modest result. If a nose requires significant realignment from the front or a significant reduction of a bulbous tip, then a traditional surgical Rhinoplasty may still be the most appropriate option.

Which anaesthetic is used?

A Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty does not require sedation; however, we use dermal fillers which contain a local anaesthetic known as lidocaine, which helps to reduce discomfort during treatment.

What's the downtime?

Straight away, you may see some swelling, though this tends to lessen over the following days. Most patients who have a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty can resume their normal daily activities the next day. If bruising does occur, it is easily covered with post-procedure makeup, though this should not be applied until the day following treatment. We also encourage patients to sleep with their head elevated for the first few nights following the procedure, to keep any swelling to a minimum.

When will I see results?

Treatment complete, the nose is immediately transformed. Many patients comment on its more refined shape, though most are mainly impressed by the sudden invisibility of their nose and how it blends seamlessly into the rest of the face. The best results, however, are to be seen in two weeks, when the filler has fully integrated with the tissue and the nose has completely settled.
