Volumetric Facelift

Facial ageing is rarely about loose skin alone. In reality, one of the most significant changes that occurs over time is the gradual loss of volume from the bone and fat pads of the face. As structural support diminishes, the skin follows, leading to sagging cheeks, early jowls and a more tired appearance.

The Volumetric Facelift is a sophisticated, non-surgical approach designed to address this deeper cause of ageing. Rather than pulling the skin tight, we restore lost structure using advanced dermal fillers placed with precision at key anatomical points.

The goal is not to change how you look. It is to restore balance, projection, and softness, so you look refreshed, well, and entirely like yourself. A structural, non-surgical solution to facial ageing that restores volume, improves contour and delivers natural-looking lift without surgery.

Overview

Volumetric Facelift Overview

A Volumetric Facelift in Glasgow is particularly suitable for patients noticing flattening of the cheeks, early jowl formation or deepening folds around the mouth. It offers meaningful rejuvenation without the downtime associated with surgical facelift procedures.

Results are visible immediately, with optimal outcomes seen at two weeks once swelling has settled and the filler has integrated naturally.

Choosing Volumetric Facelift

If your primary concern is facial ageing driven by volume loss rather than significant excess skin, a Volumetric Facelift may be the ideal solution. During consultation, we assess whether non-surgical structural restoration will achieve your goals, or whether a surgical approach would be more appropriate.

Transparency is central to our advice.

Volumetric Facelift vs. Similar Procedures

A Volumetric Facelift restores deep structural volume loss using carefully placed dermal fillers to rebuild support and create lift. Unlike isolated filler treatments, it addresses the face holistically.

Compared with surgical facelift procedures, it is non-surgical with minimal downtime, making it ideal for patients whose primary concern is age-related volume loss rather than significant skin laxity.

How it Works

A patient before and after treatment at McKeown Medical.

Step 1: Initial Consultation

We begin with a detailed facial assessment. I analyse bone structure, fat distribution, and facial balance while discussing your concerns and aesthetic goals. This ensures your Volumetric Facelift plan is precisely tailored.

Step 2: Treatment Planning

Injection points are carefully mapped to restore structural support in a proportionate, balanced way.

Step 3: Treatment Preparation

The skin is thoroughly cleansed. Most dermal fillers contain local anaesthetic for comfort, and additional topical numbing can be applied if required.

Step 4: Treatment

Using advanced injection techniques, often with a blunt cannula filler is placed at a deep structural level to rebuild projection and support. Treatment typically takes around one hour.

Step 5: Recovery & Follow-Up

We review you at approximately two weeks, once swelling has resolved, to ensure your Volumetric Facelift result is refined, balanced and harmonious.

What To Expect Before Volumetric Facelift

Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation and detailed facial assessment. We analyse bone structure, volume distribution, and facial balance while discussing your concerns and aesthetic goals.

Photography and anatomical mapping guide a bespoke treatment plan that restores structural support in a precise and proportionate way.

What To Expect During Volumetric Facelift

On the day of treatment, the skin is carefully prepared to ensure optimal results and safety. This begins with thorough cleansing to remove makeup, oil, and impurities, helping reduce the risk of irritation or infection and creating a clean surface for precise injection placement.

Most dermal fillers contain a local anaesthetic for comfort, allowing the area to gradually numb during treatment. If required, particularly for more sensitive areas such as the lips or for patients with heightened sensitivity, additional topical numbing can be applied to maximise comfort throughout the procedure.

Using advanced injection techniques, often with a blunt cannula, filler is placed at a deep structural level to rebuild projection and support in areas such as the cheeks and jawline. The focus is on structural restoration rather than superficial filling. Treatment typically takes around one hour and is very well tolerated.

What To Expect After Volumetric Facelift

Mild swelling or occasional bruising may occur but usually settles within a few days. Most patients return to normal activities the following day.

While improvement is visible immediately, the final result is best appreciated at around two weeks once the filler has fully integrated.

A follow-up appointment ensures your Volumetric Facelift result is balanced and refined.

Common Questions

What are the benefits?

The Volumetric Facelift addresses one of the most important aspects of facial ageing: loss of volume from the fatty tissues and the skeleton. As the facial bones shrink in size, there is less structural support for the overlying skin and soft tissues, which leads to tissue ptosis (sagging) – manifesting in an aged and tired-looking appearance.

The Volumetric Facelift is very effective at reducing signs of ageing in the face, from the jawline up. The effect is much more modest in the neck. If your neck is a significant effect, you may be better suited to a surgical procedure.

Which anaesthetic is used?

Many of our patients are surprised to learn that the Volumetric Facelift is not uncomfortable and does not require anaesthetic. We use dermal fillers containing a local anaesthetic known as lidocaine, which helps reduce discomfort. At the same time, sensitive areas, such as around the mouth, can benefit from using a topical numbing cream. A dental block can be administered for highly nervous patients, though this is rare.

What's the downtime?

Immediately after the volumetric facelift you might notice a small amount of swelling (especially around the chin or in the lips) – although this has usually subsided within a few days. In fact, most patients with the Volumetric Facelift are back to work or their regular daily routine the following day. If bruising does occur, it can be covered with post-procedure makeup – though this should not be applied until the day following treatment.

When will I see results?

The effects are immediately visible: contours are noticeably refined, and the face shape appears youthful. But the best results are to be seen in a couple of week’s time, when the filler has fully integrated with the tissue and the face has settled.

Will a Volumetric Facelift make my face look overfilled?

No. A properly performed Volumetric Facelift restores structure rather than adding unnecessary volume. The aim is refinement and balance, never exaggeration.

Can men benefit from a Volumetric Facelift?

Yes. A Volumetric Facelift can enhance jawline definition and restore mid-face support while preserving masculine proportions.

Is a Volumetric Facelift reversible if I change my mind?

Yes. The hyaluronic acid fillers used can be dissolved if necessary. However, careful planning and precise technique mean refinement is always the priority.

Will facial movement feel natural after treatment?

Yes. Because the filler is placed at a deep structural level, facial muscles continue to function naturally. You should still look like yourself when you smile, speak or laugh, simply fresher and more rested.

Why is practitioner expertise important for a volumetric facelift?

A Volumetric Facelift requires detailed anatomical understanding and precise structural placement. Volume must be restored accurately and proportionately to achieve elegant, natural-looking results.
