The neck is one of the most challenging parts of the ageing appearance to treat without surgery. The gold standard technique for improving the neck is a surgical lift, however, at McKeown Medical we have pioneered a unique protocol to give our patients who are not ready for surgery yet the maximum improvement possible just short of surgery. To do this we draw on our decades of experience and a combination of the most advanced laser and energy based device technology which our state of the art clinic has at its disposal.

Skin tightening devices performed on their own typically result in modest improvements. Our experience has shown us that to achieve the best possible results with skin tightening in the neck it is better if we perform the treatments in combination – and that’s what we do with the non-surgical neck lift.

First we begin the treatment session with the Halo laser, which is a dual action fractional resurfacing laser where we optimise the treatment settings for skin tightening. Next, we use the Profractional device, which is a fractioned ablation laser. We use this device to remove some of the layers of skin, achieving more tightening and texture improvements. Finally, we add in the Morpheus8 treatment which uses radiofrequency energy and microneedling to achieve further skin tightening. Whilst all of these treatments can be used in isolation to tighten the neck, our experience shows they work better in combination – performed at a single treatment session.
For patients who have excess fatty tissue in their neck, we will often recommend that they combine this treatment protocol with CoolSculpting® to reduce the amount of fatty tissue first. If you require CoolSculpting®, this is typically a single session. We recommend that patients have two or three sessions of the laser neck lift to achieve the best results.
The first step is to have an initial consultation and assessment with our laser expert, Dr Rhona Cameron. If Dr Rhona believes you are a good candidate for the treatment we will make a second appointment for you to come back to have the treatment performed. The settings to be used in your treatment will be prescribed by Dr Rhona and the treatment will be delivered by one of our practice nurses.
On the day of your treatment we will ask you to come to the clinic about half an hour before your treatment is due to begin so we can apply some numbing cream. When the numbing cream has taken effect we then go ahead with each of the devices in sequence. It typically takes up to two hours to deliver all three devices, one after the other. Most patients describe the discomfort as a mild burning sensation – similar to a sunburn.
Finding the right treatment for you is the most important factor in ensuring that you are on the correct path to achieve the results you desire. Our pre-consultation form helps us to identify your needs and, ultimately, gets you on the right path to achieving your optimal results.
Your treatment plan will be tailored to your individual needs and the results you are looking to achieve.

After the treatment you are free to resume normal activities immediately, although your skin will be red and inflamed for a few days. It can take up to a week for the skin to get back to normal.
At this stage, you will notice some initial improvements that will continue to get better as the weeks pass by. We typically recommend your second session four weeks after the first session. If we recommend a third session, this would be a further four weeks later.
