At McKeown Medical we understand that women’s health is often under-resourced and not given the priority that we believe it deserves. That’s why we have created a range of packages that put your priorities and goals at the heart of what we offer. Our packages range from simple menopause consultations with follow up through to a variety of more advanced consultations with more investigations and tests to help you optimise your own health.

Menopause consultations

Our menopause consultations include a one-on-one appointment with an expert in hormones, Dr Iain Martin, consultant gynaecologist. This includes a comprehensive assessment of your symptoms and, where appropriate, recommendations on HRT prescription. All of our consultation packages include a follow up appointment so we can review the success of your initial treatment plan, assess any side effects or complications and if necessary make recommendations on adjustments to your treatment plan.

Advanced menopause consultations

The advanced menopause consultation is ideal for women who want more detailed input and reassurance. As well as symptoms assessment and HRT recommendations, this package includes blood tests to look at your current hormone levels and give more detailed guidance on the best prescription for you. It also includes an ultrasound scan to check on the health of your uterus and ovaries.

Menopause and wellness consultations

Our menopause and wellness consultations include everything in the advanced menopause consultation, but go further to include an array of additional tests to get a broader view of your overall health including screening for conditions like diabetes and anaemia, looking at the lipids in your blood (not just cholesterol), looking for vitamin deficiencies and testing for tumour markers. It’s ideal for women who want a comprehensive health overview.

Women’s wellness review

This is ideal for women who do not wish to focus on menopause, but want a health overview nonetheless. This package includes a wide range of health checks including blood tests, ultrasound scan of the uterus and ovaries and guidance on how to perform regular self breast examinations at home.

Your health, our priority

We believe that continuity of care is important, so our women’s health service is built around seeing the same specialist each time. Your consultation is delivered by a consultant gynaecologist who takes the time to understand you, your history, your current health needs and your own values and priorities. If further tests or a review appointment are needed, these are arranged around what is clinically appropriate for you rather than a fixed schedule, and you will see the same expert who already knows your case.

Our women’s health service is led by Dr Rhona Cameron, our medical director who has crafted this service with women’s needs in mind. All of our packages are provided by Dr Iain Martin, a consultant gynaecologist and expert in women’s health. Dr Iain is passionate about empowering women to be at the centre of decision making when it comes to their medical care, as well as embracing their overall health and wellness – not just treating symptoms.

Consultant Gynaecologist

Dr Iain Martin

Dr Iain Martin (GMC 7277328), MRCOG and a Specialist Registered Consultant Gynaecologist, leads our gynaecology services at McKeown Medical. A pioneer in ambulatory gynaecology in Scotland, Dr Martin collaborated with the McKeown Medical team to establish Scotland’s first private ambulatory gynaecology service.

Dr Rhona Cameron

Dr Rhona Cameron (GMC 6103281), Medical Director of Women’s Health at McKeown Medical and a University of Glasgow-trained GP, is a skilled injector extensively trained in Dr McKeown’s signature intuitive technique. Her treatments blend advanced facial optimisation with powerful, energy-based devices, such as lasers, BBL, and radio frequency, energising the appearance and enhancing skin health.
