Redness

Redness is something that bothers a large percentage of those patients who come to see us – from broken capillaries to rosacea. However, while a ruddy complexion can be exacerbated by factors such as diet, exposure to the outdoors, and even emotional attributes, it can also be a symptom of underlying conditions such as inflammation, allergies or acne. For this reason, a thorough consultation is necessary in order to identify the root cause of redness: enabling us to create a bespoke treatment plan that not only restores a smooth and even skin tone, but that also reinstates overall skin health.

What can help?

Laser is the gold-standard technology in treating unwanted Skin Redness, and we use the BBL device from Sciton which achieves spectacular results. It works by focusing a variety of wavelengths of extremely bright light into the skin, where it reacts with the haemoglobin pigment in red blood cells, causing it to shatter and as it does so disperse heat that shuts down the blood vessels responsible for causing the redness.

Are you ready to start your consultation?

Finding the right treatment for you is the most important factor in ensuring that you are on the correct path to achieve the results you desire. Our pre-consultation enquiry helps us to identify your needs and, ultimately, gets you on the right path to achieving your optimal results.

Common Questions

What are the benefits?

Our bespoke BBL treatments mean that we can effectively calm the appearance of redness. It is vitally important that you do not come for a treatment if you have tanned skin, either real or fake, or if you have recently used any photosensitising medications (the most common of which are tetracycline antibiotics, a commonly prescribed acne suppressant).

Which anaesthetic is used?

We use cold air to cool the skin and provide a comforting sensation during the treatment, distracting from any heat generated as a by product of the treatment.

What's the downtime?

Following BBL treatment, it is normal for the skin to be pink, although this subsides very quickly – hence, why we refer to BBL as a “no downtime treatment”. It is advisable to keep the complexion clear of makeup and to use a mild skincare routine and a high SPF in the days following.

When will I see results?

Your doctor will recommend a course of treatment based on your needs, with four weeks between each session. While best results are visible following completion of the course, you should be able to notice a progressive improvement in skin redness after each session.
