MicroPeel Laser Treatment

A deeper reset for smoother, brighter, healthier-looking skin

As we age, the surface of the skin gradually becomes less smooth and even. Years of sun exposure, environmental damage and the natural ageing process can leave the complexion looking dull, rough or uneven, with visible pigmentation, fine lines and changes in texture.

The Sciton MicroPeel is a precision laser resurfacing treatment designed to remove damaged outer layers of skin, revealing fresher, smoother skin beneath and stimulating the natural renewal process.

It is an excellent option for patients who want a more noticeable improvement in skin quality than can be achieved with very superficial treatments, but who are not ready for the longer recovery associated with deeper laser resurfacing.

How Does It Work?

How does MicroPeel work?

MicroPeel uses Sciton’s erbium laser technology to precisely remove a controlled depth of the skin’s outer surface.

Unlike treatments that simply heat the skin or create microscopic treatment channels, MicroPeel resurfaces the entire treated surface to a carefully selected depth. This removes damaged and weathered skin cells and encourages the formation of a fresh, more uniform surface as the skin heals.

One of the advantages of erbium laser technology is its precision. The depth of treatment can be carefully controlled, allowing your practitioner to tailor the procedure according to your skin, the degree of damage and the amount of recovery you are prepared to accept.

In general, the deeper the treatment, the greater the potential improvement – but also the longer the recovery.

What can MicroPeel improve?

MicroPeel is primarily a skin quality treatment. It can help improve:

  • Rough or uneven skin texture
  • Dull, tired-looking skin
  • Fine lines
  • Sun damage
  • Superficial pigmentation
  • Enlarged or visible pores
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Early signs of skin ageing

The result is skin that looks smoother, clearer and more refined, with a fresher and healthier appearance.

MicroPeel can be particularly useful when pigmentation has been addressed but the skin still needs improvement in its surface texture. For this reason, we may recommend combining MicroPeel with Sciton BBL, which targets unwanted pigment and redness within the skin. The two technologies address different aspects of skin ageing and can work very effectively together as part of a comprehensive skin rejuvenation programme.

How many treatments will I need?

For some patients, a single MicroPeel can produce a worthwhile improvement. Others may benefit from a series of treatments, particularly where there is more established sun damage or textural change.

Your treatment plan will be tailored following consultation and skin assessment. Where appropriate, we can also use VISIA digital skin analysis to examine pigmentation, sun damage, redness and other features that are not always obvious to the naked eye.

Is MicroPeel right for me?

MicroPeel is best suited to patients who want to make a meaningful improvement in the quality and texture of their skinand are comfortable accepting several days of visible recovery to achieve it.

At McKeown Medical, we do not believe in choosing a laser simply because it is the newest or most aggressive option. The depth and type of resurfacing should reflect what has actually changed in your skin and what you want to achieve.

For some patients, a gentle NanoPeel will be enough. For others, MicroPeel provides the ideal balance between improvement and recovery. Where more significant ageing or damage is present, we may recommend deeper laser resurfacing instead.

The aim is always the same: to use the right treatment, at the right intensity, for your skin.

Are you ready to start your consultation?

Finding the right treatment for you is the most important factor in ensuring that you are on the correct path to achieve the results you desire. Our pre-consultation form helps us to identify your needs and ultimately gets you on the right path to achieving your optimal results.

What to Expect

Why choose McKeown Medical?

Laser treatments are not simply about choosing the right machine: they are about choosing the right treatment for your skin.

Because we offer the complete Sciton platform, including BBL, MicroPeel, NanoPeel and HALO, ProFractional and Contour TRL we are able to recommend the treatment, or combination of treatments, that is genuinely best suited to your skin, rather than trying to make one technology fit every patient.

Whether you are looking for subtle skin maintenance or more comprehensive rejuvenation, we can create a personalised treatment plan designed around your goals.

Recovery & Aftercare

Recovery & Aftercare

MicroPeel is deliberately more intensive than our NanoPeel treatment and therefore involves some downtime.

Immediately after treatment, the skin will usually appear red and feel warm, similar to sunburn. Over the following days, the treated surface begins to heal and renew. The skin may feel dry, tight or rough and will gradually flake or peel as fresh skin emerges underneath.

We generally recommend allowing around one week of recovery following a MicroPeel, although this varies depending on the depth of treatment and individual healing.

Once the initial healing phase is complete, the skin typically looks smoother, brighter and more even. Improvements continue as the complexion settles over the following weeks.
