About Dr Kavita Sharma

Dr Kavita Sharma is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with specialist expertise in breast and body aesthetic surgery. Having trained in leading centres across the UK, she combines outstanding surgical skill with a warm, intuitive approach. Known for her ability to truly understand her patients’ needs, Dr Sharma creates results that are natural, personalised, and always centred around the individual.

Why Choose Silicone Implants?

Silicone implants remain the most popular and trusted option for breast enlargement surgery. The material is durable, safe and long-lasting, with a natural softness that closely mimics real breast tissue. At McKeown Medical, Dr Sharma uses only premium, CE-marked implants from the most reputable manufacturers, allowing her to carefully select the ideal shape, size, and projection to complement your body frame and aesthetic goals.

Silicone implants are suitable for women seeking:

  • Fuller, more proportionate breasts
  • Restoration of volume after pregnancy or weight loss
  • Correction of asymmetry between the breasts
  • Enhanced shape and definition while maintaining a natural look

For those who prefer to avoid implants altogether, we also offer breast augmentation using your own fat, which you can learn more about on our dedicated fat transfer page.

What to Expect From Your Journey

The First Consultation

Your journey begins with a conversation with your Patient Relationship Manager (PRM), who will answer initial questions and arrange your consultation with Dr Sharma at a convenient time. During this appointment, Dr Sharma will listen carefully to your goals, perform a detailed assessment of your chest and body, and discuss the surgical options most likely to achieve your desired outcome.

You’ll receive a comprehensive written summary of your consultation outlining the recommended procedure, expected results, potential risks, and costs. We always encourage a follow-up consultation if you’d like to revisit any details before proceeding.

Before the Procedure

Prior to your operation, our practice nurse will conduct a pre-assessment call to review your medical history, which is then checked by our consultant anaesthetist. Additional tests may be arranged if required to ensure your procedure is as safe as possible.

Patients are advised to avoid alcohol and nicotine products (including vapes, patches and gums) for at least two weeks before surgery. You will also need to arrange a responsible adult to accompany you home afterwards.

During the Procedure

Breast augmentation is performed under local anaesthetic with deep sedation, allowing you to sleep comfortably throughout without the need for a full general anaesthetic. This technique is administered by our consultant anaesthetist, who continuously monitors your comfort and safety using specialist equipment.

The operation typically lasts around two hours, though this varies depending on the complexity of your case. Because recovery is faster and gentler than with traditional general anaesthetic, most patients are ready to go home within about an hour of surgery ending.

Leading Breast Augmentation Surgeon in Scotland

Dr Kavita Sharma’s NHS practice is dedicated entirely to breast surgery and reconstruction – it’s what she does all day, every day.

This deep, specialist focus gives her exceptional insight into both the aesthetic and reconstructive aspects of breast surgery, allowing her to deliver results that are not only technically excellent but emotionally resonant.

As a woman herself, Dr Sharma understands the emotional relationship women have with their bodies and the profound confidence that can come from feeling comfortable in your own skin. She is not here to persuade you into surgery but to guide you honestly and compassionately through your options, helping you choose the right procedure – or combination of procedures – to meet your goals safely and realistically.

Recovery & Aftercare

Recovery & Aftercare

You will be given tailored pain relief to help manage any initial tightness or soreness. Our nurse will call you the day after surgery to check on your progress, and you’ll attend a wound check one week later.

Bruising and swelling usually peak after a few days and gradually settle over two to three weeks.

Follow-up appointments are scheduled with Dr Sharma at six weeks and twelve weeks, with additional reviews if required, to ensure that your healing and final results meet your expectations.
