About Dr Kavita Sharma

Dr Kavita Sharma is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon specialising in breast and body aesthetics, with advanced training in both reconstructive and cosmetic techniques across leading UK centres. Combining refined surgical skill with a warm, empathetic approach, she takes the time to understand each woman’s goals and body proportions. The results she creates are natural, balanced and personalised — shaped by experience, artistry and an intuitive understanding of the female form.

Why Choose Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation?

Fat transfer — sometimes called autologous fat grafting — enhances the breasts using fat harvested from another area of your body, such as the abdomen, flanks or thighs. The procedure involves three stages:

  1. Gentle liposuction to collect fat from a donor site
  2. Purification of the fat cells in a centrifuge to ensure only the healthiest are used
  3. Careful injection of the fat into the breasts to sculpt volume and shape

The benefits include:

  • 100% natural material — no implants or foreign substances
  • Softer, more organic feel and subtle enhancement
  • Body-contouring benefits from the liposuction areas
  • Minimal scarring and quicker recovery
  • Lower long-term maintenance compared to implants, which need to be replaced every 10 years or so

While fat transfer can achieve modest volume increases, it is ideal for women seeking a natural look rather than dramatic enlargement, or those wishing to correct minor asymmetry, restore lost fullness, or refine the results of previous surgery.

What to Expect From Your Journey

The First Consultation

Your journey begins with a conversation with your Patient Relationship Manager (PRM), who will answer initial questions and arrange your consultation with Dr Kavita Sharma.

During your appointment, Dr Sharma will listen carefully to your goals, assess your chest and potential fat donor sites, and advise whether fat transfer alone or in combination with implants would achieve your desired result. You’ll receive a detailed written summary of your consultation and a cooling-off period to consider your options before scheduling surgery.

Before the Procedure

Ahead of surgery, our practice nurse will contact you for a pre-operative assessment to review your medical background. This is then reviewed by our consultant anaesthetist, who may recommend further tests if necessary to ensure your safety.

You’ll be advised to avoid alcohol and nicotine (including vapes, patches and gums) for two weeks before surgery, and you’ll need a responsible adult to take you home and stay with you overnight afterwards.

During the Procedure

Fat transfer breast augmentation is carried out under local anaesthetic with deep sedation, allowing you to sleep comfortably throughout the operation without a full general anaesthetic.

The procedure typically lasts around two to three hours, depending on how much fat is being removed and transferred. Fat is gently liposuctioned, purified, and then precisely injected into the breasts in fine layers to build smooth, even volume.

Because the technique is minimally invasive and avoids implants, recovery tends to be swift, with most patients able to return home about an hour after the procedure ends.

Leading Breast Augmentation Surgeon in Scotland

Dr Kavita Sharma’s NHS practice is dedicated entirely to breast surgery and reconstruction — it’s what she does every single day. Her dual expertise in reconstructive and cosmetic breast surgery allows her to deliver safe, natural, and lasting outcomes for every patient.

As a woman herself, Dr Sharma understands the deeply personal relationship women have with their bodies. She approaches each consultation with empathy and honesty — not to sell surgery, but to help you explore your choices and find the path that aligns with your goals and self-image. Whether through implants, fat transfer, or a combination of both, her focus is always on achieving balance, beauty, and confidence for every patient.

Recovery & Aftercare

Recovery & Aftercare

You can expect some swelling, bruising and mild soreness in both the donor and breast areas for the first couple of weeks. Our team will provide full aftercare instructions and pain relief to keep you comfortable.

You’ll have a nurse wound-check at one week, followed by review appointments with Dr Sharma at six and twelve weeks. Most swelling settles within a month, and final results continue to refine over the following few months as the transferred fat stabilises.
