IPL Photorejuventation

We offer IPL Photorejuvenation treatment from our clinics in Glasgow and London.

IPL can be used to treat a number of the changes we see in our skin from ageing and sun damage, such as:

Dull, rough skin

Enlarged pores

Fine lines

Uneven skin tone

Pigmentation

Broken capillaries

How Does IPL Work?

The wavelengths of light used in our IPL photorejuvenation treatments are converted to heat which decreases or destroys unwanted structures in the skin to create a more even skin tone and decreased pore size. IPL also induces the skins own healing response, promoting collagen formation. The overall result is improved skin texture and luminosity with a smoother, more youthful complexion.

IPL is an ideal treatment for mild to moderate signs of aging. Skin with more severe signs of aging is better suited more aggressive resurfacing treatments, such as CO2RE Laser Therapy.

IPL for Acne

IPL photorejuvenation therapies can also be highly effective for mild to moderate acne, and are proven to work in a number of ways. Propionibacterium Acnes, the bacterium thought to be behind many cases of adult acne is destroyed by the light wavelengths used. Heating the overactive sebaceous glands causes them to decrease their sebum production, and the stimulation of collagen production helps to improve overall skin texture. The overall result is a decrease in the number and severity of active lesions, a reduction in the frequency of breakouts, reduced inflammation, and an improved skin texture with more even skin tone.

How many treatments do I need?

For the best and most consistent results with IPL, a full face treatment is recommended. Although some results can be seen following a single treatment, for maximal collagen stimulation we would recommend a course of 3 to 6 treatments in total, each performed 2 to 4 weeks apart.

Once your desired results have been achieved, IPL can be used on a lighter setting for maintenance treatments to keep your skin in peak condition.

How does the treatment feel?

Most patients describe the treatment as being mildly uncomfortable, similar to the flick of an elastic band. During the procedure we use a skin-cooling machine that should relieve any discomfort.

What should I expect after the treatment?

Immediately after treatment your skin will be slightly red, may be swollen and you may also develop a tingling sensation.
