Chemical Peels

WE OFFER CHEMICAL PEELS FROM OUR CLINICS IN EDINBURGH AND GLASGOW

HELPS TO REVEAL YOUNGER SKIN

Chemical peels are used to treat the superficial signs of ageing in the skin. They are especially effective for treating signs of sun damage, uneven pigmentation, and fine lines and coarseness. The peels work by causing a controlled injury to the skin, following which the skin undergoes a phase of self-repair, emerging at the other end in a better condition than it started.

Types of Peel?

There are many different types of skin peels, although they can all be grouped according to how deep they go in to the skin – superficial, medium and deep. Deep chemical peels can yield the most dramatic results, but those results come at a price of extended ‘down time’ and a high risk of complications.

By comparison, superficial peels produce less impressive results, although this can be built upon by repeating a series of superficial peels to achieve an overall impressive result. The benefit of this approach is that the superficial peels have very little or no down time, and minimal risk of side effects and complication.

SKIN PREPARATION

Depending on the type of peel you are having, and for what reasons, it may be necessary to treat your skin with some prescription strength creams for *2 – 6 weeks before having your peels. The purpose of this preparation is to enhance the effects of the peel and to reduce the chances of developing complications afterward. During this period of skin preparation, it is necessary to wear high factor sunscreen on a daily basis, even on cloudy days, and it is important you keep up your sunscreen throughout the course of your peels and during any healing periods afterward.

Are you looking for a non-surgical treatment that will improve the quality and appearance of your skin? Many of our patients opt for chemical peels as they improve fine lines and wrinkles.

Skin peels or chemical peels are now extremely popular as is often used to diminish the effects that skin conditions have had on your skin.

This type of treatment can also improve the pigmentation of your skin, making it an excellent treatment for those who have a rough skin surface, acne or acne scarring.

CHEMICAL PEELS GLASGOW

What is a chemical peel? This treatment is a non-surgical procedure. Our doctors prescribe this to patients that will benefit from this procedure. A chemical peel enhances the facial appearance and can reduce signs of ageing.

There are a number of reasons why patients enquire about our chemical peel procedure. Chemical peels can also be incredibly effective for those who want to decrease mild scarring, age spots, and freckle. Once the chemical peel process is complete, many patients find that it has improved the texture and colour of their complexion.

THE CHEMICAL PEEL PROCESS

Dr Darren aims to give every single one of his patients the power to become the best version of themselves. No matter what condition your skin is currently in, Dr Darren and his team of cosmetic experts can provide you with the right information and the right treatment. That is why we offer skin peels that can treat a number of skin problems. Dr Darren’s clinic, we offer three types of chemical peel:

  • Skin brightening (course of 3)
  • Rejuvenation (course of 4)
  • Medium depth (one peel)

Each of these treatments varies in time due to the differences in the application process. During these cosmetics treatments, our cosmetic team can ensure that your eyes and hair are protected from the chemical peel treatment.

At our clinic, we give you an honest and professional opinion on what procedure is best for your skin. Every patient is unique and may require a different level of treatment, that is why we offer three different treatments.

The sensitivity of your skin will make an impact on how your skin feels during the experience. Some patients do experience a burning or stinging sensation, therefore, our team will apply the appropriate treatments to reduce this.

WE ARE SKIN EXPERTS

As much as we all try, the ageing process cannot be stopped. Chemical peels are an excellent choice for those who have treated their skin poorly over the years. At our clinic, we offer a number of treatments that can help you reduce the appearance of aging. No one wants to look tired or old before their time, one of the reasons why many choose the chemical peel process.

At Dr Darren’s clinic, our team of medical experts is trained to treat every type of skin. During your consultation, we will evaluate your skin type. This will help us to advise you on the most effective chemical peel which will be suited to your skin.

Our experts will make sure that you are fully informed of what each treatment involves and what aftercare will be required. Before your skin peel, we will discuss your skin goals, the benefits of a chemical peel, post-treatment care for your skin and answer any questions you have about the treatment.

CHEMICAL PEEL BENEFITS

AT our professional cosmetic surgery Glasgow clinic, we only use safe solutions that will help your skin to regrow to its best condition. Our cosmetic surgeons will remove the damaged top layers of skin, leaving you with a younger, fresher looking appearance. This is just one of the benefits of our chemical peel Glasgow treatment. After the process:

  • Your skin may look and feel smoother.
  • Signs of sun damage may be reduced.
  • Your skin may look brighter and more even, making it an excellent treatment for those who have scars, pigmentation, acne, and enlarged pores.
  • The texture of your skin may feel fresher as the treatment removes dead and damaged skin cells.
  • Overall your skin may look clearer as a chemical peel stimulates the regrowth of healthy skin cells and collagen production.

AFTER YOUR CHEMICAL PEEL TREATMENT

We advise that you have someone to drive you home after your chemical peel treatment. As expected, your skin may feel sensitive after the treatment has been applied. Every patient is different and depending on what type of solution was applied, certain areas may feel similar effects as the feeling sunburn has.

After the treatment, the skin will begin to scale and peel, this means that procedure has been effective and may leave you with a fresh feel after this treatment is complete.

It is recommended that patients take the appropriate recovery time after a deep peel is completed. At Dr Darren’s surgery, we recommend that patients wait an average of two weeks before returning to work.

We recommend that once your chemical peel has been completed, that you avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. During your consultation with Doctor Darren’s team, we will discuss follow-up care which will be required and advise you on the products which will help you to maintain your new, rejuvenated look.

SKIN PEELS GLASGOW

The older we get, the more worn our skin becomes. As we age dead skill cells appear which can make our skin look duller. A skin peel can help restore radiance which has been lost. Many patients find that sun damage has left their skin looking worn or blemished, even if it has been treated and pampered over the years.

Skin peels can be used to treat a number of skin problems, not just sun damage. In the past, our team has performed chemical peels on those suffering from acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, and skin that looks tired and worn due to aging.

Dr Darren’s clinic is a leading UK cosmetic surgery practice. Dr Darren and his team have been treating patients with skin problems for a number of years and will always offer a professional, honest opinion that will help you get the skin you have always dreamed of. Side effects and complications

The risk of side effects and complications depends on the depth of the peel: deep peels have a high risk of complications, whereas superficial peels are relatively low risk. Following a superficial peel, your skin will remain red for the first 24-48 hours. Around 3 or 4 days after the treatment you will notice some light peeling, similar to the effect of having very dry skin, although most people are able to tolerate this whilst going about their day-to-day activities and so the treatment usually has no down time.

Possible complications with deeper peels include scarring and loss of pigmentation, although it would be rare for these effects to happen with modern superficial chemical peeling techniques.
