Nose to Mouth Lines

Nose to Mouth Line Treatments

What can help?

The most advanced way to eliminate the appearance of nose-to-mouth lines is with dermal filler. Fortunately, modern injecting techniques mean that we have moved away from the old-fashioned “filling” of lines; instead, we strive to reduce them by replacing volume that has been lost from the mid-face, therefore softening the appearance of nose-to-mouth lines altogether.

Cheek Filler is therefore an effective treatment, and is performed by all of our non-surgical doctors: including Dr Darren McKeown, Dr Nina Singh and Dr Rhona Cameron.

We use dermal fillers which contain a local anaesthetic known as lidocaine, which helps to reduce discomfort – while use of a topical numbing cream can be of benefit for patients who are anxious.

Our expert aesthetic doctors are highly skilled at assessing the face and injecting strategically: to support the areas of the face where volume depletion is most noticeable, in particular to the lateral cheek area and at the temples. By strengthening these areas, we can reinforce the natural scaffolding of the face: helping to lift fallen tissues, smooth deep nose-to-mouth lines, and create a more feminine face shape.

Post-procedure, you may see a bit of swelling and the area will feel tender – however this has normally lessened by the next day. Most patients who have dermal filler are back to their normal routine the same day. If bruising does occur, it is easily covered with post-procedure makeup – though this should not be applied until the day following treatment. We also encourage patients to sleep with their head elevated for the first few nights following the procedure, to keep any swelling to a minimum.

Straight away. Reinforcing the underlying facial structure means the skin is instantly lifted: nose-to-mouth lines appear softer and the face looks less tired. However, the best results are to be seen in two weeks’ time, when the filler has fully integrated with the tissue and the face has settled.
