What can help?
Although lip lines are one of the most common complaints that we hear of in the clinic, treating them in isolation rarely produces a satisfactory result. By the time the lip lines have formed, volume loss has almost invariably occurred in the entire area around the mouth – and often in the cheek as well.

COMMON
QUESTIONS
Injections around the mouth area can be quite sensitive. Although the products contain some local anaesthetic within them, we often combine that with some additional topical anaesthetic to provide extra pain relief. In patients who are very sensitive, we may occasionally perform a dental block, to eliminate pain entirely.
By carefully supporting the tissues in the area around the mouth, the area appears lifted and the lines appear smoother. Although the lines are softened, they are not entirely eliminated completely – resulting in a natural and age-appropriate appearance.
There is little downtime with this treatment: patients can resume their normal activities immediately afterwards – though applying makeup is not advised until the following day. If the lips are treated, then they may look a little swollen for a few days – so you may choose to schedule this procedure when you have some time off.
The results of Botox® take up to one week to become apparent. The effects will typically last between three to six months, before a repeat treatment is required.
