Sagging Jawline Treatments

NON-SURGICAL
TREATMENTS

What can help?

A sagging jawline can be made to appear tighter, and more defined, through varying approaches – and dermal fillers are the most instantly gratifying way to enhance lost definition. However, when treating the jawline, it is often imperative to address the chin. After all, the chin contributes significantly to the foundations of the lower face – and an under-developed chin means that there is often a lack of support for the jawline, leading to an appearance of slackening: even when the skin is still in good condition. This means that a sagging jawline is not simply something that occurs with age – but can in fact be as a result of genetics.

More options

Restoring volume using dermal fillers is often beneficial, and offers the most predictable and reliable non-surgical improvement. Although alternative treatments (such as thread lifts) are available, in our vast experience, skillfully performed dermal filler injections offer the most predictable and reliable non-surgical improvement – with results typically lasting up to 18 months. It is also possible to supplement the treatment of jowls with skin tightening treatments, such as Profound RF or Morpheus8. However, if you are looking for a more permanent solution to jowling, FaceTite – a minimally-invasive procedure, may help.

COMMON
QUESTIONS

We use dermal fillers which contain a local anaesthetic known as lidocaine, which helps to reduce discomfort – while use of a topical numbing cream can be of benefit for patients who are anxious.

Sagging Jawline

By underpinning the soft tissues of the lower-face and supporting the areas that are suboptimal – such as an under-developed chin – dermal fillers can effectively correct the appearance of sagging, and restore sharpness and definition to the jawline. In doing so, they can also balance the face – ensuring a harmonious, and natural-looking end result.

Sagging Jawline

With dermal fillers, the jawline and chin may swell, and will feel tender post-procedure – though this has usually settled by the following day. Most patients are ready to resume their normal daily routine immediately after treatment. If bruising occurs, it can be easily covered with makeup – though this should not be applied until the next day. We also encourage patients to sleep with their head elevated for the first few nights following the procedure, to keep any swelling to a minimum.

Following dermal fillers, the jawline regains a sense of strength and appears sharper – while the chin, though treated, is often imperceptible to anyone other than yourself. The best results, however, are to be seen in two weeks’ time, when the filler has fully integrated with the tissues.
