NON-SURGICAL
TREATMENTS

What can help?

In order to lessen the appearance of jowls, we work by fortifying the areas of the face that are becoming weak, and contributing to sagging in the lower-face. In addressing prominent jowling, it is common for our doctors to restore volume surrounding the chin, in the cheeks, and jawline – creating an internal “scaffolding” to support the soft tissues surrounding the jowls.

In the patient examples presented here, you can see the impact of treating the cheeks and chin with facial fillers to reduce the appearance of the jowls.

Before & After: Following treatment, the face looks fresher – with jowls noticeably smoother

Carefully placed, dermal filler supports the lower-face and defines the jawline.

More Options

Restoring volume using dermal fillers is often beneficial, and offers the most predictable and reliable non-surgical improvement. Although alternative treatments (such as thread lifts) are available, in our vast experience, skillfully performed dermal filler injections offer the most predictable and reliable non-surgical improvement – with results typically lasting up to 18 months. It is also possible to supplement the treatment of jowls with skin tightening treatments, such as Profound RF or Morpheus8. However, if you are looking for a more permanent solution to jowling, FaceTite – a minimally-invasive procedure, may help.

COMMON
QUESTIONS

We use dermal fillers which contain a local anaesthetic known as lidocaine, which helps to reduce discomfort – while use of a topical numbing cream can be of benefit for patients who are anxious.

By strengthening the facial bone structure and subtly shaping the lower-face with dermal fillers we can give more support to the soft tissues – thereby lessening the effect of jowls. This can be achieved with little to no downtime.

With dermal fillers, the chin is prone to swelling, and will likely feel tender post-procedure – though this has usually settled by the following day. Most patients are ready to resume their normal daily routine immediately after treatment. If bruising occurs, it can be easily covered with makeup – though this should not be applied until the next day. We also encourage patients to sleep with their head elevated for the first few nights following the procedure, to keep any swelling to a minimum.

Following treatment with dermal fillers, a sleeker-looking face is instantly revealed – though best results are to be seen in two weeks’ time, when the filler has integrated with the tissues. With a Lower Face & Neck Lift, we ask to see you for a follow-up at one week, two weeks, six weeks, three months and six months – until we are all satisfied that you have fully healed and achieved the outcome we were anticipating.
