We offer IPL Acne Treatment from our clinics in London and Glasgow.
Acne can be one of the most distressing dermatological conditions. Contrary to popular opinion, it is not just a problem of teenage years with many people – especially women – suffering adult acne throughout their lives. A whole range of new skincare ingredients as well as topical and oral medication can be used to manage the condition. Now, IPL treatment has a role to play too in reducing the number and severity of spots, reducing the inflammation associated with the condition and lessening the frequency of breakouts.
How does IPL Work
The light emitted by the IPL machine works by targeting the overactive sebaceous glands. This reduces the total number and severity of active acne lesions as well as lessens the inflammation and frequency of breakouts.
The IPL light also stimulates the production of new collagen which helps to improve the texture of the skin and can also reduce the appearance of red or brown areas of skin that are often associated with acne breakouts.
Side effects and complications
Very rarely you can develop a small blister or the skin can become temporarily lighter or darker following treatment. The risks of side effects is greatly reduced however if you follow all pre- and post-treatment instructions.
